Characteristics of Good Angels
- Luke 1:19 - Angels stand in God's presence, they can speak and use humanly understandable language
- Luke 15:10 - Angel's have emotion (rejoice)
- 2 Samuel 14:20 - Angels are wise
- Mark 13:32 - Angels are NOT all-knowing
- Matthew 22:30 - Angels do not marry each other (not co-dependent)
- Luke 20:36 - Angels do not die (they're eternal)
- Matthew 18:10 - Angels can see
- Psalm 91:11,12 - Angels have ears (listen to God's command) and have hands
- Luke 2:13,14 - Angels work together in groups
- Luke 1:26,27 - Angels have names, certain angels are mentioned by name several times in Scripture (Gabriel appears four times in the Bible, the angel Michael is mentioned five times in Scripture.)
- NOTE: Jude 9 calls Michael an "archangel." This indicates that angels also have status/hierarchy (or rank, similar to the military).
- Matthew 1:20 - Angels appear in dreams (they also appear in visions - see Isaiah 6, Ezekiel 10, Jude and Revelation)
- Isaiah 6:1-3 - There are different kinds of angels with different numbers of wings; angels are able to fly
- Ezekiel 10:3-5 - Angels' wings make a distinctive sound, compared to the voice of God
- Luke 24:4-6 - Angels clothes gleam like lightening
- Acts 1:10,11 - Angels are able to appear/disappear instantaneously
- Acts 5:18-20 - Angels are able to perform miracles
- Acts 12:6-8,11 - Their identity is not always immediately known (see also Genesis 18 and Hebrews 13:2)
