Animal Use or Abuse - Answers
- DISAGREE - Why? God created both the animals and people. However, Scripture makes it clear that people are the crown of his creation. God created Adam in his image (Gen 1:270) and gave him an eternal soul (Gen 2:27).
- DISAGREE - Why? God put men and women on the earth to rule and care for it. The use of animal skins is not forbidden. In fact, God even provided skins to clothe Adam and Eve after they were driven from the Garden of Eden.
- DISAGREE - Why? God allows us to use animals for our good. Trapping animals for their skin is not necessarily wrong. If the practice results in the disappearance of a species, that is poor management and a sin. Americans have been guilty of mismanaging resources such as the beaver, buffalo, and the otter. God expects us to be good stewards of this world.
- AGREE - Why? Because of our sinful nature, we don't always take care of this world as God has commanded. Too often we abuse and waste our natural resources. This is sinful behavior.
- DISAGREE - Why? Trophy and sport hunting are not necessarily sinful. If the motive for hunting is to glorify the hunter for his accomplishment or it results in the wanton killing of animals, that is sinful.
- DISAGREE - Why? God allows us to use animals for our good. Using them to test medicines may benefit the health of human beings and prolong life. However, in some cases a fine line exists between using animals for research and abusing them. Abuse is forbidden by God. Researchers must take care that their work serves the good of mankind and is done as safely as possible.
- AGREE - Why? It is too much if people place their love for pets in front of their love for the one true God. It is also a sin against the First Commandment and spiritually dangerous.
- DISAGREE - Why? To impress upon the people how valuable life was, God commanded in the Old Testament that animal responsible for the death of a person be put to death. Since we no longer live under the Mosaic Law, this principle no longer applies. If an animal is dangerous it should be killed. There may be times when death occurs accidentally and it would not make sense to kill a harmless animal.
- DISAGREE - Why? It is wrong to mistreat animals in captivity. In some cases, putting animals in the zoo may be the only way to preserve a species that is disappearing because of our poor management and care of the earth.
