Perspective - Notes

  • Matthew 9:2 - The biggest proglem in our lives, SIN, has been taken care of.  God assures us that no matter how ugly life's other problems get to be, he has forgiven our sins fully and freely, as he assured the paralytic of first and foremost!
  • Philippians 3:12-14 - As Christians, our ultimate goal in all we do is to be with God in heaven (which is assured solely through faith in what Christ has accomplished for us).  Everything we do and experience is prioritized with this goal in our minds and on our hearts, and our decisions and actions serve to preserve this goal.
  • Romans 14:7,8 - The circumstances of our eathly lives is of little consequence, because in faith we have the hope and assurance of heaven.
  • 1 Timothy 6:6-8 - Our contentment should not be based on the abundance or lack of material blessings.
  • 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 - As Christians, glorifying God is one of our main purposes in life.  If our suffering brings glory to God, then we praise Him for that suffering.  Our strength comes from knowing Christ, our forgiveness in Him, and the promise of heaven.  Our strength is not based on our success or health in our earthly lives.
  • John 16:33 - Through faith, we are one with Christ.  Because he has overcome the world, so will we.  That does not mean that we won't experience trouble; however in Christ, that trouble cannot rob us of our faith OR take away our place in heaven.
