The Value of Christian Friends
By Josh
Have you ever had a point in your life where you wish you had more friends? Maybe there was a time where you had some friends, but you wished you had better ones, people who were helpful and loyal, there for you when you really need them, supporting you in any circumstance, and always serving to strengthen your Christian faith. The value of good and caring Christian friends is immeasurable; sometimes we don’t even realize how extraordinary it is to have reliable friends, how lucky we are to have people who encourage us in our everyday life. Now, I couldn’t tell you exactly how to make these kinds of friends, but if you do it is really something special. The Bible says in Proverbs 27:10, “Do not forsake your friend and the friend of your father, and do not go to your brother's house when disaster strikes you—better a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.” This passage points out the importance of friends, how you should never forsake your friends and that you should rely on them, maybe even more than you would a family member in some instances.
I myself am fortunate enough to go to a school where I can be surrounded by Christian friends every day. They may not always be perfect, but I know that I can trust them and rely on them when I need it. They build me up when I’m feeling down and remind me to get back on God’s path when I stray. I pray that others may be blessed with these kinds of friends as well, and thank God for blessing me with the Christian friends I have.
