Sharing Jesus with our Friends
By Brittany
Friends are a huge part of our lives. I think we would all agree that they are one of the greatest blessings God has given us; some have even said that "friends are God’s apology for family." While I do not necessarily agree with that statement, it is clear that friends mean a lot to us. Our friends are different from us and despite, or possibly because of, those differences we care for them and love them.
Most Christian teens today have friends who are without faith. If we love our friends, shouldn’t we try to share God’s word with them? No one wants to see their friends suffer an eternity in hell, but yet we often hesitate to share our faith. We are trapped by the fear of losing them. On the one hand, we fear losing them to the devil and on the other hand we fear losing their friendship on earth. If they die without faith, they will face the consequences of the law: eternity in hell. But if the Holy Spirit creates faith in their hearts through the message of the gospel, we will see them in heaven.
So what do we do? We need to trust God and His guidance and take the plunge into our fears. Share the truth in love to your friends and rest assured that, in the end, what God desires will be done and that His plans are never to harm us. This task may be hard; however, remember that we are here to introduce the word and the Holy Spirit will do the rest. Show your friends the ultimate action of love by putting aside your inhibitions and sharing your faith with them.
