Satan, Sin, and Temptation

By Andrew

Enveloping, Engulfing, Suffocating!
Darkness, in every corner, behind every door,
Terrible, thick clouds of horrific blackness
Threatening to take over my very soul.
Wholly evil, utterly truthless, and filled with malice
Are the minions, the demons, of Satan,
Fighting and striving to tear me away
From my King and His Realm.

The Evil One has many allies,
And they will spare no one,
Man, woman, or child,
Who strays from under the Lord’s wing.

Lust, O terrible lust,
Inflaming the soul with terrible, wretched passion!
Pictures of pleasure and bliss
Are your deceitful clothing, O most vicious creature!

Doubt, my whole self detests thee!
At first sight of a struggling Christian,
You inject them with loneliness,
As if their Father would abandon them.
Depression and Guilt are your allies,
And you dare to put into one’s mind
The guts to question the God Almighty!

The weapons of Satan are many,
His barbarians roam the world.
But more are the soldiers of heaven,
The holy angels of the Almighty King,
Who remain steadfast in the path
Of those meaning to snatch away
The lambs belonging to the Good Shepherd.

So do not fear the suffocating fog of sin,
Or the raging tempests of evil.
Let the piercing rays of Christ’s light
And the lamp of His gospel message
Illuminate your path
On the way to the Triumphant King.
