True Love
By Brad
It’s Love…
How do you know?
This phrase is much too often used
Too often said for reasons wrong, too often is abused.
Love is not about looks,
As movies make you think.
For looks are here and gone, like water down a sink.
It’s not about your wants alone,
Or wanting physical pleasures,
About the things a person has or way a person measures.
True love will not expose
The other to things that hurt.
From sinful acts, true love, seeks always to divert.
True love means commitment,
Though times aren’t always fun
It stays, though troubles rise; from problems does not run.
True love does not seek perfection.
It does not hold a grudge.
It does not look to point out faults or always look to judge.
I have been fooled before,
By what I thought was love.
Only to see it fly away - out the window, like a dove
You came into my life
When love seemed locked, behind a door
But the many things I feel for you, I’ve never felt before.
When we are together
In whatever that we do
I, forever and for always, want only what’s best for you
For now I know…
It’s Love.
