Connection Contests
No one entered any of the Connection Contests at the 2009 WELS Youth Rally...that's OK though. It was our first time doing them, and there were PLENTY of other things to do. But in case you're curious, here are some of the answers to the contests...
Popular Last Names
There are five last names for which there are 10 or more people at the rally with that last name. Gather a list with one first and last name from each. Each person must initial next to their name. If your list is correct, you’ll be entered into a prize drawing.
The five most common last names at the rally were Schultz (14), Fischer (12), Nelson (11), Schmidt (11), and Johnson (10).
Same Birth Date
Find someone with the same birth date as you (month, day and year). Come to the rally help desk to report it; after we verify it, both of you will be entered into a prize drawing.
Amongst the leaders there were only eight common birthdays, but amongst the teens there were 204 different birthdates for which more than one person was born on that day! Same First AND Last Name
There are two people with the SAME first AND last name at the rally. Enter your guess at the help desk; if your guess is correct, you will be entered into a prize drawing. One prize will be awarded to a guy and one to a girl.
There were two Ashley Kolander's at the rally, one from Minnesota and one from Wisconsin.
