Expectations and Responsibilities

Term of Service

Teen members of the International Youth Rally Planning Committee must be in grade 10 or 11 at the time of nomination and will serve from the time of their appointment until the end of the Youth Rally they have helped to plan. A teen may serve on the International Youth Rally Planning Committee only once. 

Qualifications for Service

To serve as a teen member of the International Youth Rally Planning Committee, a teen must be…

1) A confirmed member in good standing in his/her WELS congregation, faithfully partaking of the Means of Grace.
2) A spiritual teen, modeling Jesus in his/her speech, conduct, attitudes, activities, and behavior.
3) An active participant in the youth ministry and/or general ministry of his/her local congregation.
4) A person who can adequately represent WELS teens and effectively communicate their points of view.
5) An organized and reliable person, able to accept assignments and follow through on their completion.

Responsibilities

A teen member of the International Youth Rally Planning Committee will be expected to fulfill all of the following: *

1) Attend all face-to-face committee meetings.
2) Accompany the committee on its organizational/orientation trip to the selected youth rally site. 
3) Participate in all teleconferences and/or live online chats arranged to discuss rally business.
4) Respond promptly to all rally-related e-mail correspondence.
5) Actively participate in committee discussions.
6) Complete by the designated time, any committee assignments given.
7) Assist the committee at the International Youth Rally in whatever ways asked.
8) Fulfill any additional duties not noted above, but determined by the committee.


* It is recognized that extenuating circumstances may periodically prevent committee members from fulfilling some of the duties above.  As much as possible, these circumstances need to be discussed in advance with the whole committee so that adjustments can be made.   Inability to fulfill the above responsibilities, could result in the teen member’s dismissal from the committee.
