I attended the rally's for the last 4 years. I admit I was skeptical of this one mainly because of the location. I had been in Texas and was unsure of how Iowa would compare. The experience in Iowa was just as positive as any of the others. I made new friends whom I still text or talk with each day. My shin splints (from all the walking) are still painfully talking to me but the experience still was positive. I left knowing that my decision to be a missionary after high school was the right path for me. Rally's always get me ready for the year ahead this one was no different.

you know you went on the 2009 WELS youth rally if you:
* walked a mile to get to your luxurious dorm room
* got chills during the showing of the lifehouse 'everything' skit
* want to learn how to drum like that awesome group that led us to the far away building following the opening ceremony
* got on the big projection screen at the dance
* still wore your yellow or red bracelet days after the rally was over
* made your own adventure at 'Adventure Land'
* sang, chanted, or even did the "slow-clap" during one of the bus rides.
(proud J-22 bus-rider. [J-22! J-22!])
* rebelled against the "long-sleeve shirt and jeans" policy for the service projects.
* got pictures with any of the members from CHAPTER 6
* made new friends and stayed up late in the dorm rooms texting them
* were sad when you had to get back on the bus to go back home

Had a great time at my first Youth Rally as chaperone/attendee, and will highly recomend for others to attend.
I do have a suggestion for future rallies. Have some down time during the day, or at least a chance for more than 5 to 6 hours of sleep a night. My days were non stop from getting up at 6am to lights out at midnight. I think that it was mostly noticed for those in the choir, or band. I know that choir numbers got smaller as the rally went on, and it may have been in part to getting burned out, and not having any time to get to display tables or Northwest Publishing House (which I was really bumbed out about not getting to).
Thank you to everyone who organized this event. I realize that a lot of planning and effort goes into pulling this off. God's blessings to you all.

This was an email I received from on of my parents after the rally. I would personally like to that all of the people involved in putting together this event. It was absolutely wonderful.
"I know I can speak for Eli and that he had a tremendous time. It is very rare for Eli to ever talk much about anything. He will say, "Uh it was o.k." and that is usually the most we get.
This time it was great to hear him talk all about the trip. He was really excited and he has a new personnality that seems to be forming. I think it has a little to do with this last year at Wisco as well, but I think this last opportunity has helped to bring out the real young man in him"
