2009 Rally Service Projects
Dear Contact Youth Leader:
We were hoping that our June 5, 2009 letter to you would have been our last, but some issues have arisen with some of the entities with which we are trying to finalize service projects. Bottom line: some of them will not honor our online parental permission/authorization and want us to provide real signatures from parents/legal guardians for the minor youth doing service projects at their locations.
To accommodate the wishes of these entities, you will be receiving a surface mailing shortly containing this form: Volunteer Service Release and Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk Agreement. Please complete this form so that…
1. Every adult member of your group has his/her name printed on the left and his/her signature on the right, in the ADULTS IN GROUP section, and
2. Every teen member of your group has his/her name and age printed on the left and his/her parent’s/legal guardian’s signature on the right in the TEENS/MINORS IN GROUP section.
PLEASE get the “release and waiver” form completed by your group members and bring the original and a copy of it with you to the rally check-in.
THE ABOVE INFORMATION AND FORMS CAN BE ACCESSED IMMEDIATELY AT:

Also, some projects require special clothing. Every participant will receive a “Follow the Path, Lead the Way—IN SERVICE” long-sleeve T-shirt. But make sure the members of your group also have a PAIR OF OLD PANTS and comfortable, CLOSED-TOE FOOTWEAR along for use on the service project day if needed. Sandals and flip-flops will not be allowed. Tennis or other shoes that cover the toes and feet are what’s required. Individuals who do not have the proper parental permission and/or proper clothing, will not be allowed to participate in the service projects, but will have to stay in a supervised room on campus for the service project hours. This will be about as much fun as a high school detention room, so bring the right stuff! For some projects, bug spray may also be a good addition.
A listing of the service projects being conducted as part of the “Follow the Path, Lead the Way” rally is also enclosed in the surface mailing (and is also available online at the link above). Some of these have changed since our June 5, 2009 mailing, so be sure to verify your congregation’s project.
If you have any other rally-related questions, refer to your June 5 letter, the rally Web site, or call 414-256-3274. See you soon in Ames!
